Testimonials

The “Friends” were there when my very independent mother moved from her home into a retirement home. This past winter she moved into a nursing home. Once again Friends of the Family made this transition much easier for both mother and the family. The “non-relative” voice often helps soften some necessary decisions. The “friends” keep in close touch with the family.

Knowing that there is time during the week that Mom will have quality time and structured activity to look forward to has been a blessing.  The best part is she sees this time as a visit from a friend who truly cares for her not as an employee coming because she is paid.

- Janice M.

It’s a great comfort to me to know that someone from Friends of the Family visits her in LTC a couple times a week, for extra stimulus and variety in her life.

- John T.

These visits assist me greatly in caring for my Mother, giving me peace of mind to be free to do other things on visit days.  It is a welcome service that I hope will grow for many others.

- Carol G.

I don't know how you picked someone for me so competent and appropriate. My family friend is very nice, totally competent, versatile and helpful. She shops for me, drives, cleans the house and does everything with judgement, willingness and helfulness. In addition, she is a wonderful person. Thanks.

- Don E.

I hired a caregiver from Friends of the Family to help Ed do exercises to help his demetia 7 years ago. Ed really enjoys her visits. She is kind, caring and a bright ray of sunshine for me as well. She has become a special "friend of our family".

- Ed C.

I have been very pleased with the reliable, caring service offered by Friends of the Family. Your attention to detail is incredibly helpful. Using your service has clearly enhanced our family member's quality of life through your caring support, postive attitude and can do approach.

- Helen B.

Our Friends of the Family team were truly family friends. Their compassionate, creative and individualized approach to care stimulated my mother mentally and physically. As dementia slowly took away Mother's memories and abilities, Friends of the Family were there to ensure a safe and loving home environment.

For the past 10 years our family has watched with deep satisfaction the effect Friends of the Family has had upon our Mother. Mom has found two amazing friends. They go everywhere with her - on the internet when the weather is bad or out to lunch at The Boathouse on a warm sunny day. Last summer, Mom, 93, and wearing her "Jackie O sunglasses" posed for her first "selfie". How wonderful is that?

- Leni S.

Year after year the staff from Friends of the Family have meant so much to me. We go for walks, read books together. The manicures and leg masages are the best. They know what I like and purchase my clothing and essentials to keep me feeling my best. I look forward to each and every visit.

Noël was in the early stages of memory loss, attending meetings with the Alzheimer's Society when she was introduced to our family friend and her dog. She met with Noël regularly, taking her for short drives and providing encouragement. Noël and I are both in our late eighties; she is now in Long Term Care and I've moved to an adjacent life lease apartment.

I don't know how either of us could have coped with the move without the consistent and continuing help.

- Noel T.

Our sister has MS and she wouldn't be able to get to her swimming, which she loves so much, without your helpful one on one care.

- Peggy K.

My mom's family friend gained her trust and confidence very quickly. Her caring and understanding nature made the transition for my mom easy. Having someone else take my mom on outings has also provided some relief for me. I feel confident that my mom is being well cared for when she has the company of her Friend.  She looks forward to each and every visit.
