I have been working with seniors in the Guelph area for over 30 years. I worked at St. Joseph’s Long Term Care Facility for 13 years in the Activation and Out’n’About Departments.

The experience and education in Dementia I obtained while working at that time gave me the desire to work in the Guelph Community.

I have had the priviledge to work with so many wonderful people and their families giving care and support.

35 years ago, while completing my degree in Applied Human Nutrition at the University of Guelph I started working at St. Joseph’s Home and Continuing Care.

Gone was my future in dietetics as I found working with seniors was what I enjoyed and wanted to pursue. While leading the Activation department I was fortunate to be there when we developed and started the Out’n’About and Alzheimers Day Programmes.

After taking some time off to raise my daughters I was excited to join with Colleen to start Friends of the Family. I feel fortunate to work with such a wonderful group of caring and knowledgeable people and look forward to each and every day with my clients.

I have had the pleasure of working with Friends of the Family since 2006. It is extremely gratifying to know that I am able to make a difference in people’s lives. I am blessed to have the opportunity to work with the elderly and enjoy their companionship, as well as getting to know their families.

Personally, I have obtained a great deal of knowledge of the many challenges presented with Alzheimer’s and Dementia through experience with my own mother and mother-in-law.

The ability to put a smile on someone’s face, priceless!

I have been working with Friends of the Family since 2014. Our seniors are a very important part of our community and I enjoy the wisdom, friendship and love that they give.

It is very rewarding to be able to assist families and their aging family members. My clients are all so appreciative of the visits and it is a joy to be able to brighten their day! I learn from and appreciate them as much as they appreciate me.

I have a B.A. in History/Psychology.

I joined Friends of the Family in 2012 after completing my bachelors degree in Sociology at the University of Guelph.  I love being a part of such a passionate and caring team.

I have always known that I’ve wanted to work with seniors, partly because I think there is so much we can learn from our Elders. I like to bring lots of compassion, energy, and creativity to my one to one visits.

I am currently working towards completing a Horticultural Therapy Internship.

I have been with Friends of the Family since 2014. I have an undergraduate degree in Adult Development and experience working in recreational day programs for seniors.

I truly understand and value the importance of socialization and stimulation through daily or weekly visits.

I love working within my community and creating relationships with my many clients.

I joined Friends of the Family in 2016. I have a Bachelor’s in Sociology from University of Guelph.

I wanted to work with Seniors because I strongly believe in respecting and taking care of our Elders.

I also grew passionate because of my grandfather who suffered from Alzheimers. Our family was supported immensely by his companion, who spent a lot of time by his side.
